I just started my evaluation for a prop firm. I did a bunch of research on which one I wanted to go with and turns out I went back to the original one that was suggested to me. Technically, I had a trade day yesterday, which was a loss of $175. I couldn’t get Ninja Trader to sync up with the account so I had to uninstall/reinstall and then setup again. After finishing, about one hour before close, I took a quick trade to test out my settings. That counted as a loss.
For this morning, my normal trading hours, I was able to start the day with a few “exploratory” trades to see how I was feeling. Went bad, then went well, then went really well. I got to a point where I needed to close the trade so I wouldn’t hit the max daily limit, so good day. I think a big part of my success right now, is being like a machine, emotionally. I’ve seen a few videos on how to approach losses and am starting to adapt that into my trading days. It feels wrong, when I think about gaining or losing 1k in funds, but I can definitely see how this will keep you profitable consistently, and also sane.
Wish me luck!
