Had my first encounter with news coming in, lost about 13k in total. Its pretty depressing, but in a way I’m glad that I had the experience. Now I know to check the news and make sure there are no big announcements coming before jumping in, or already being in a trade. There was no recovery from that jump, like there was the previous day. If I’m going to pass the evaluation, I need to be more consistent and trade less contracts.
Also had the experience yesterday, of carrying over a contract, that was obviously loosing, from 5pm to “the next trading day” at 6pm. Wasn’t that spectacular, but reminds me to check and make sure that I am out of all positions before then. Will a next day carry-over be a good or bad experience next time?
Im in the 14 day free trial of Trade Day prop firm. Using their sim account for testing out the connection and hooking up to Ninja trader. We’ll see how this goes over the next few weeks.
I keep thinking about strategy and edge. After a few bad days, it really makes you think about what your edge produces and whether or not you should change. I feel like going through different You Tube videos again, from different posters, to get more insight and different opinions. One I saw the other day asked the question “Are you trading too much?”. I don’t think so, while I’m practicing on paper. But maybe I could practice “not taking a trade”.
